ODEN Funeral services for Bob J. Oden, 83, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2017, in the sanctuary of Lee Joyner United Methodist Church, Monroe, LA with Rev. Ben McGehee and Rev. Betty Swanson officiating. Visitation wi will precede the service from 9:30 until 11:00 am in Solomon Hall at the church. Bob passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, in Monroe, LA. Bob graduated from Neville High School and Northeast Louisiana State College (ULM). "Bobby Joe", on the Northeast Campus, was active and well known as editor of the Pow-Wow and the Chacahoula, president of the student council and photographer. His professional career of 43 years was in Chamber of Commerce and economic deve development organizations in Monroe, Lafayette, Shreveport and Kosciusko, Ms. He w He was president of Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives and Loui Louisiana Industrial Development Executive Associations. Bob was an active and loving member of the Lee Joyner United Methodist Church an and of the Pastors Sunday School class. His greatest accomplishment was as the st strong and adoring leader of a loving family including a devoted wife, ch children, grandchildren, a great grandchild, and many loving nieces, nephews an and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Beulah Oden and his sister, Martha Jane Funderburk. Survivors include his wife of 59 ½ years Wanda Lou McKinney Oden and children Pam Strother, Jeff Oden and wife Sylvia, Stacy Oden-Knight and husband Stanley; grandchildren, Austin Strother, Caroline Strother and husband Josh Strickland, Mallory Boyette and husband Kaleb, Ashley Coco, Adam Coco, Sam Oden, Adam Knight, Rachel Knight and one great grandchild, Emma Kate Freyou. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Glenwood Hospital, and and to Dr. Blaine Borders for his years of love and attention. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Pastors Sunday School class. Memorials may be made to Lee Joyner United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
