He never met a stranger and poured out his love on us all, but his greatest joy was his family. His wife Jean of 63 years and children were so close to his heart, wrapped in his enduring love. In their early years of marriage they moved throughout Texas, but eventually moved home to West Carroll parish. He worked for 10 years in the oil industry. He served the public for 4 years as deputy sheriff, after which, he served as Clerk of Court for West Carroll Parish for 24 years. He was a member of the Lions Club for 40 years and served twice as president. After retiring, he enjoyed raising and tending cattle. His loves also included singing, spending time with his family and frequenting the ballparks to watch his grandchildren play ball. He loved watching the Oak Grove Tigers play and prepared special pancake breakfasts for several of the players during the season. He was a faithful member of Oak Grove First Church of God, where he taught, enjoyed spending time with the youth and served in leadership positions for 35 years. He introduced his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to the joys of horses, cows and dogs. He was known for his character, kindness and love of a good joke. This strong, yet gentle man taught volumes without saying a word. His life was his legacy to all who knew him that will now grieve their loss. This man of God is now with the Maker of the Universe, His Father in Heaven. The family wishes to thank all who prayed, called, and cared for him.
