As a life-long United Methodist and member of United Methodist Women, she served alongside her husband, Ben Oliphint, at United Methodist churches in Monroe, Alexandria and Baton Rouge, and at First United Methodist Church, Dallas. Upon his being elected a bishop in 1980, they together served the Kansas and Houston areas. While in Monroe, Dr. Oliphint and his new bride Nancy served St. Paul's United Methodist Church as its first minister. The first day school in Monroe was started at St. Paul's under the leadership of Mrs. Oliphint. At the time the church building had not been completed and the Day School met in the Oliphint's home. Nancy continued to opened her home for church activities from 1952 until 1965 when they were transferred to Alexandria by the Louisiana Confrence. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband Bishop Ben Oliphint, and son Kelley Oliphint. She is survived by daughter Mary Brooke Casad; sons Stuart and Clayton Oliphint and many other beloved family members. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 23 at Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, February 24 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Houston.
