OWENS Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral service for Mr. Dwight E. Owens, 98, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday July 1, 2008 at Cypress Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Baptist Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Mr. Owens was a lifetime member of Cypress Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon in 1957. He served as a Men's Sunday School teacher for over 30 years. Dwight served on the Ouachita Parish School Board for 18 years serving as President and Vice President. He was a lifetime member of the PTA. Mr. Owens was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and Carpenter. Mr. Owens is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Owens; parents, Dan and Jettie McGrew Owens; daughter, Nannette Owens Brown; daughter in-law, Sally Owens; sisters, Lorene Crawford, Gertie Green and Gartha Waggoner; brothers, Hilton Owens, Ivan Owens, and Guy Owens. Survivors include sons, Rabeon and wife Anna, Charles (Bill) and wife Janet, and Tom and wife Peggy; son in-law, Maxwell Brown and wife Margie; grandchildren, Mike Brown, Lori Roberts, Steve Brown, Kenny Brown, Randy Owens, Lisa Heckford, Don Owens, Scott Owens, Laron Owens, Tim Owens, and Brian Owens; 21 great grandchildren; sister, Lela Head; and brother, John Owens. Pallbearers will be Mike Brown, Steve Brown, Randy Owens, Scott Owens, Tim Owens, Brian Owens, Laron Owens, and Kenny Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Don Owens, Jerry Roberts, Wayne Heckford, Freddie McVay, Frankie McVay, and the Deacon Body of Cypress Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday at Cypress Baptist Church.
