OWENS Soldier for the Lord Soldier for his Country Funeral Services for Leon J Owens, 84, of West Monroe, LA will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, February 24, 2014 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Herrington officiating. Interment will follow at Cheniere Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Owens was born on August 7, 1929 in Lena, LA and passed away quietly at Glenwood Regional Medical Center on February 22, 2014 while being held by his loving wife, Billie of over 60 years. He was a member of West Heights Missionary Baptist Church, loved to serve, sing, and was a wonderful provider for his family as a welder for over 50 years. Mr. Owens served his country in the U.S. Army during the worst of the Korean Conflict, July 1950 to 1951. He is survived by his wife Billie Ann Parsons Owens and three daughters, Linda Smith and husband Marque, Ann Owens, Frieda Hunt and husband, David; nine grandchildren and step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren and step- great grandchildren to carry on his love and legacy. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
