LESTER EDMOND OWENS
Mulhearn Funeral Home

West Monroe, LA

Funeral services for Lester Edmond Owens, 62, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, 
June 6, 2009, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Terry Lindsey 
officiating. Interment will be at Cypress Baptist Church Cemetery.

Les was born in Monroe on May 24, 1947 and passed away in Shreveport on June 2, 
2009, surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by is parents, Ivan D. and Estelle Owens of West 
Monroe.

He was a 1965 graduate of West Monroe High School and a veteran of the Vietnam 
War where he served with the Ninth Infantry Division. He received his BS degree 
in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech in 1972. He and his family 
traveled the world, living and working in Saudi Arabia; Dubai, United Arab 
Emirates; and Doha, Qatar.

After working in Houston for several years, he returned to the West Monroe area 
in 2007 after finding a position with DCP Midstream. He was happy to return so 
that he could enjoy Louisiana Tech football, hunting, fishing and getting 
reacquainted with his cousins. Les had friendships that lasted his lifetime and 
will be remembered for his sense of humor and enjoyment of life.

Survivors include his wife of forty years, Dianne Dahlhauser Owens; daughter, 
Lauren and husband Frank Galle; son, Jason Owens and wife Emily, and their 
sons, Jason, Jr. and Evan Owens.

Pallbearers will be Reggie Owens, Bill Owens, W. D. Head, Morgan Crawford, 
James Dahlhauser, and Frank Galle.

Honorary pallbearer will be Steve Owens.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Mulhearn 
Funeral Home, 300 McMillan Road in West Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louisiana Tech Athletic 
Department or to a charity of your choice.
