Jim grew up in Central Louisiana where he was a devoted Eagle Scout, a Jena Giant football player, and an avid cowboy & rodeo clown. After graduating from Jena High School, he left college to return home to help his father in the family automobile business. It was there that he met Loretta Eileen Shadow. After a stint attending Sunday School together, the two fell in love and were married on February 17, 1973. A few years later, Jim and Loretta moved to Ruston and he took a job with the Ruston Coca-Cola Bottling Company. Once their roots were set in North Louisiana, Jim raised Arabian Horses at Shadow Glen Farm and became extremely active in many civic organizations. Here, he remained active in the Boy Scouts of America serving as the Scout Master of Troop 45, was a member and President of the Kiwanis Club, Trinity United Methodist Men, and Louisiana Methodist Cursillo. After the closing of the Bottling Plant, he was a Purina Feed Dealer and served with the Wild Horse Ministries around the country. After his retirement from the feed business, Jim got involved in the local Christian Motorcyclist Association Chapter; an organization that was very dear to his heart and his faith. He went on to serve as the Louisiana State Coordinator for over eight years. Over the years he served on numerous CMA mission trips throughout the nation, as well as Central & South America. Jim was passionate about life and was devoted to his Lord, his church, his family, and his friends. Three times he was diagnosed with cancer- and three times, he beat & survived these diseases. He lived a wonderful life and his children and grandchildren were the blessings he cherished most.
