Tweet was born October 25, 1923 in Arkansas. Her family relocated to Lake Providence, LA when she was a young child where she attended St. Patrick's and graduated from Lake Providence High School in 1941. Tweet enrolled at Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1945. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Tweet met and married the love of her life, William Henry Parker, when he returned to Lake Providence after serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII. Tweet worked until her retirement as the Administrator for East Carroll Parish Department of Public Welfare. After her retirement, she found enjoyment helping her son keep the books for the family farm. She remained an active partner in the operation until her death. Those who knew Tweet, were in awe of her sharp mind. She had an uncanny ability to recall names, dates and detailed stories when asked. She learned to sew and quilt alongside her mother and grandmother and has registered quilts with the Louisiana Quilt Association. She also expressed her artistic abilities through needlepointing, crocheting and many other forms of crafting. Her tech savvy abilities and creativity led to her love of designing personalized Hallmark birthday cards from her home computer until last month. Tweet was an active member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed attending matinees at the Strauss Theater with her group of friends. Tweet loved watching LSU football and she recently requested to watch her Tigers defeat Arkansas from her hospital bed on her iPad. Tweet is survived by her son, Thomas "Tap" Atkins Parker and daughter-in-law Jennifer Brockman Parker of Monroe, grandchildren William Brooks Parker, James Nolan Parker, Anthony Brockman Brunini, William Elliott Brunini and Adeline Lark Brunini. She is preceded in death by her parents Ellen Carnley Brandenburg and Henry T. Brandenburg, and her beloved husband, William Henry Parker. Visitation will be Monday, November 28th from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. followed by the service at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 407 First Street, Lake Providence, LA. Pastor Brother Bo Horne will officiate. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cox Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Mark Brown, Nolan Clark, Floyd Hutchinson, Brooks Parker, Nolan Parker and Tommy Scroggins. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Francis Hospital, Crossroads Hospice of Delhi, and to all of the dear caregivers who showered Tweet with love and care: Amanda, Jo Ella, Jane, Patricia, Cynthia.
