He was born June 8, 1928, to the union of Jule and Verda Hay Parks, and was a lifelong resident of Union Parish. Although he was employed for many years in the insurance and banking industry, his true passion was farming. He was happiest spending time on the Parks Farm acreage. After retirement, "Uncle Buck" was a beloved employee at the dental offices of Dr. Tommy Ward, Dr. Vance Costello and Dr. Daniel Raymond. He made a profession of Christian faith at Paron Baptist Church at a young age and faithfully attended the Auditorium Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church until his health prevented it. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty- one years, Loyce Wilson Parks and son-in-law Randy Reid. He is survived by daughters Dr. Judith Levy and husband Robert of Baton Rouge, Belinda Reid of Downsville, Melanie Wester and husband Richard of Asheville, N.C.; grandchildren Wesley McMurrian of Seattle, WA, Derek Reid of Monroe, Dr. Claire Kappa & husband Dr. David Kappa of Durham, N.C., Blake Wester and Grace Wester of Asheville, N.C.; stepgrandchildren Brian Levy of New Orleans and Dr. Robin Levy of Baton Rouge; and great grandson William Parks Kappa and step great grandchildren Ben, Caro, and Cecilia Bookman. He is also survived by his "son," nephew Dr. Tommy Ward and wife Donna; sister Kathleen Ward and brother Barnes Parks and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his beautiful daughter Belinda Reid for her loving care over the last few years. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Farmerville with Rev. Kurt Auger officiating. Interment will follow in the Farmerville City Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.
