MARIE THRASHER PARRISH

Marie Thrasher Parrish, 92, of Ruston, LA passed away on Sunday, September 
18, 2016 at Rosemont Assisted Living, West Monroe, LA.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday September 24, 2016 at 
Longstraw Baptist Church, Choudrant, LA.

Marie is remembered for her unselfish giving and loving of others. She was a 
master cook and a master seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting, playing 
cards with her life-long friends, and had a smile that could light up a 
room. Her special talent was making each person she met feel like they were 
her "favorite".

She is survived by her son, Mark Parrish; her granddaughter, Jessica Sutton 
and husband Tommy; and son-in-law, Mickey McLeland; three nieces and 1 
nephew. A special thank you for the care provided by her niece Cheryl 
Rushing and the staff of Rosemont . She had 4 grandchildren and 4 great-
grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Olan Brooks "Buck" 
Parrish; and her daughter, Mary Kaye McLeland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First West Church, 500 Pine 
Street, West Monroe, LA 71291 for the Broaden Horizons ministry. This non-
profit organization was special to Marie because it was founded by her son, 
Mark. It is dedicated to helping children in poverty.
