Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Passman passed away on February 13, 2009, in Monroe. He was born in Franklinton, LA and moved to Monroe in 1940 where he graduated from Ouachita Parish High School, Northeast Jr. College, and Louisiana Tech. While at Northeast he played on the football team under Jim Malone where he was MVP in 1943. Mr. Passman along with his uncle, former Congressman Otto E. Passman, owned Passman Equipment Co. and later owned Passman Furniture Co. In 1972 he sold the business and began his 27 years of service in state government. He started in the Tax Commission Office until he was appointed to Director of Commerce and Industry by former Governor Edwin Edwards, then served as head of the Real Estate Commission, and ended with the Department of Education. Survivors include his two daughters, Susan Biggers and husband Robert, and Polly Bryant and husband Jim; one son, Stan Passman, Jr. and wife Robin; nine grandchildren, Ben and Molly Lyons, Hannah and Holly Harrington, Cody and Beau Passman, Ashley Reed and husband Rodney, and Andy and Alison Bryant; one great granddaughter, Ella Kate Passman; and three cousins. Pallbearers will be Ben Lyons, Cody Passman, Beau Passman, Andy Bryant, Robert Biggers, and Jim Bryant. Honorary pallbearers will be the 18th Street McDonald's Gang. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, or North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund.
