She was born on January 2, 1922 in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Monroe, Louisiana, graduating from Ouachita Parish High School. After graduating from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute (now Louisiana Tech University) in 1943, she worked as a medical technologist. She married Albert Edward Patterson on June 24, 1945. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church where she had served on the altar guild and flower guild. She was a member of the Daughters of the King. The Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Monday, January 19, 2009, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3706 Bon Aire Drive, Monroe, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Visitation with the family will follow in the Parish Hall. Mrs. Patterson is survived by her five children William Michael Patterson and wife Mary, Jo Anne Popham and husband James, Mary Suzanne Back and husband Jon, Albert Edward Patterson, Jr. and wife Kaye, and Joseph Gerome Patterson. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Stacy Elyse Jones, Troy Russell Peloquin, Lynda Christine Jacob, Lindsey Erin Poirier, Joel David Back and Jessie Laura Back and her three great-grandchildren Christopher Blake Posey, Matthew Parker Posey, and Ewan Michael Patterson. She will be remembered as a loving and faithful mother and grandmother. Because Mrs. Patterson was an avid reader and frequent patron, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Ouachita Parish Public Library, 1800 Stubbs Avenue, Monroe, LA 71201.
