PERKINS Funeral services for Mr. James Leo (Gator) Perkins, Sr., 80, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 19, 2012 at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Werner Aswell and Rev. Charles Dupree officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Mr. Perkins was born on December 31, 1931 and passed away on January 17, 2012 in West Monroe, LA. Mr. Perkins had a love of life with family, friends, hunting, fishing, eating, smoking a cigar and Rebel football. He was a Physical Therapist during the Korean War while serving in the United States Air Force. Mr. Perkins was a Christian man who served many years as a deacon at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the paper mill in West Monroe. He loved deeply and was loved deeply by many. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ledelle Barr Perkins, son, Timothy Kyle Perkins, his parents Parley and Mesena Ivory Perkins, brother, Robert Francis Perkins. Survivors include his children, James L. (Jimbo) Perkins Jr. and wife Beth, Conni Perkins Johnson and husband Randy, David Shawn Perkins and wife Bonny all of West Monroe; brothers, William David (Dub) Perkins, Ronald Parley Perkins and Samuel (Danny) Ray Perkins; grandchildren, Thomas Perkins and Jessica Elliott, Ethan and Ian (JoJo) Soignier and David Kyle Perkins; step- grandchildren, Duane and Minette Boyte Grubbs, Jamie and Leslie Johnson, Sidney, Madison and Aiden Winters. Pallbearers will be Billy Martin, Wayne Simmons, Ed Tauton, Sam Stephenson, Warren Perkins, and Bill Perkins. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
