The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service begins. Joyce was born on September 20, 1930 in Farmerville. She graduated from Farmerville High School and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana. She had a varied work career: secretary, Bell telephone representative, dietician, Union Parish Council on Ageing, Ouachita Parish "Meals on Wheels", and operated two restaurants. After retirement, Joyce dedicated her talents to services for her church and community. She traveled on mission trips with the Concord Union Baptist Association. She worked on the Christmas ShoeBox ministry for the Indian Reservation; and was involved in "Women on Missions" in Sardis Baptist Church. She also helped organize and support many fund raisers for the Sardis Community Volunteer Fire Station. Joyce passed away at her home in Farmerville on Monday, May 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry H. Farley and Ollie Joiner Farley; two brothers, Jess Herman Farley and Henry Don Farley; one sister Maudine Farley. Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, Albert J. Peters; one brother, Jim Farley and wife Betty of Farmerville; one sister Carolyn Farley Kelley and husband Dr. John Kelley of Farmerville; one step daughter, Denise Polston and husband Pat of Livingston, Texas; three nieces - Teresa Farley, Cindy Farley Dycus and Stephanie Kelley Duran; one nephew - John Farley Kelley; and nine great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Sardis Baptist Church building fund.
