A. "GUS" PETTERSON Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. B. A. "Gus" Petterson, 85, of Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe with Mr. Don Glover officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Petterson passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009. He was a member of Forsythe Church of Christ. He was a WWII Veteran, where he was in the Navy and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a retired superintendent from Monroe City School System and also a coach, teacher and principal. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Petterson; his son, Olin Petterson; sisters, Nelle Deen and Sophie Wilbanks. Survivors include his wife of eleven years, June Albritton Petterson; son, Kirk Andrew Petterson and wife Nancy of West Monroe, LA; daughter, Janis Kay Carraway and husband Dickey of Utica, MS; step children, Beverly Mardis and husband Wyman, James "Buddy" Albritton and wife Linda, Ginnie Sutherland, and Van Albritton; seven grandchildren, Jay Kay Thornton and husband Gregg, Trey Carraway and wife Erin, Hayley Mae Carraway, Katherine Petterson, Katie Petterson, Andrew Petterson, and Rami Petterson; several step grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Cade and August Ann Thornton; sisters, Barbara Little of Colorado and Olga Reed of MA.; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Andrew Petterson, Trey Carraway, Britton Mardis, Zach Sutherland, Speck Louis, and Pat Anderson. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Neville High School.
