PHILLIPS Earl Eli Phillips JR, age 88 of Junction City, passed from this life on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Timberlane Health and Rehab Center in El Dorado. Earl was born on May 27, 1925 in Louann, AR to the late Earl Eli Phillips SR and Antoinette Eloise (Everhardt) Phillips. Earl was a proud US Navy Veteran, serving his country aboard the USS Princeton during World War Two. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner for many years. Earl retired from Texas Automatic Sprinklers, serving forty plus years before his retirement. He later worked for Fire Pro Incorporated of Monroe, LA. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Junction City, where he loved to talk and visit with friends. Earl formerly enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending his vegetable garden, which he generously shared with his family and friends. In recent years, Earl especially enjoyed all the good times spent at Percy's Store eating his breakfast and visiting with his friends. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Voniarose Phillips; one son, Earl E. Phillips III; three sisters, Florence Fullerton, Aleen Wilson and Lois Cook; one brother, Ray R. Phillips. Those left to cherish his memory include; one sister in law, Billie Jean Phillips of West Monroe; four nephews, James Fullerton of Junction City, Charles Fullerton of West Monroe, John Cook of Monroe and Urban Wilson of West Monroe; two nieces, Paula Ferguson of Blanchard, LA and Teresa Jacoby of Kingston, TX; two special friends and caregivers, Norene Williams and Peggy Williams both of Junction City also, numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Bailey Funeral Home in Junction City and from 12:30 pm until service time, at the church on Wednesday. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Junction City with Pastor, Mary Depper officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Junction City. The family will be at the home of Norene Williams, 501 S. Plum St in Junction City. Pallbearers will be T.J Wilson, Tony Williams, Reuben Fullerton, Michael Fullerton, Kyle Wilson, Tony Joe Ferguson and Walt Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be H.W. Thompson, Tommy Foster, Rex Thurlkill, Gary Sewell, Buford Taylor, Steve Williams, Ken Jones, Kent Brantley, Tim Matthews and Sheriff, Ken Bailey.
