Eddy Shoemaker officiating. Interment will follow in the New Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Born November 2nd, 1925, in Sikes, LA., he was a son of the late William Leon and Myrtis Wilson Pilley. He passed away Sunday, October 12th, 2008, in West Monroe. Mr. Pilley was a retired heavy equipment operator and pipeliner. He was a veteran of the first US Navy Underwater Demolition Teams during World War II and for his service during the war; he earned the Bronze Star during the battle for Iwo Jima. These teams were the beginning of today's US Navy Seal teams. Mr. Pilley was a patriot and loved his country. He was a devoted father, grandfather and brother. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Phyllis Pilley in January, 2006. In addition, he was preceded by 2 brothers, Joe Crawford Pilley and Billy Harry Pilley; and 2 sisters, Jessie Virginia Skipper and Letha Faye Pardue. Survivors include his son, Stephen Pilley, Sr. and wife, Karen; his daughter, Cynthia (Sam) Tucker and her husband, John; his grandchildren, Stephen Pilley, Jr., James Tucker, Jenny Schow, Valerie Bundy, Joel Luzmoor, Chad Dearman and Paige Dearman; a sister, Joan Cockerham; a brother, Cecil Pilley; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation is Wednesday, October 15th, from 5:00 P.M .to 8:00 P.M. at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
