The Rev. Larry Foster will officiate. Mr. Pipes passed away in Monroe, LA , Thursday after a brief illness. Mr. Pipes was born April 25, 1925, in Lonoke, Arkansas. He was the son of the late George D. Pipes and the late Thelma Pike Pipes. He grew up in Monroe, LA and served his country in the United States Navy. He was a contractor in residential and commercial building for many years in Baton Rouge, before moving to Tensas Parish in 1967, where he ranched and continued in the construction business. For the last 20 years Mr. Pipes has been president and manager of Lake Bruin Water System. During this time with the water system he was instrumental in obtaining a grant to build a water tower. He was a founding supporter of Tensas Academy and was it's architect and builder. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sophie Harper Pipes. He is survived by his wife Martha Allen Pipes of St. Joseph, LA; two brothers Robert Pipes and David Pipes; four daughters Rebecca Pipes Robinson of Houston, TX, Georgia Pipes LaCour and husband Steve of St. Francisville, LA, Debbie Pipes Wilson and husband Bill of Montgomery, TX and Lucille Pipes of Newellton, LA; ten grandchildren Shannon Elizabeth Jackson, Stephen Shane LaCour, Stacy LaCour Weddle, Leslie LaCour Brickey, Brandon Wade Jackson, Irvin "Jimmy" Hendrix, Sophie Rebecca Vinson, Dudley Pipes Hendrix, Abby Lucille Vinson and Lana Sue Vinson; nine great-grandchildren, as well as the extended family of Martha's children-Deborah Taylor, Kerry Gregory, Bill Lansing, Allen Lansing and their children and grandchildren. Mr. Pipes was an avid deerhunter and life-long outdoorsman. Memorials can be made to the National Wildlife Federation or The American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the chapel of Crothers- Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday. The family would like to express special thanks and appreciation to Drs. Lawson and O'Neal, as well as the kind professional staff of Monroe St. Francis Hospital and the St. Francis Specialty Hospital. Additional Comments: Stated in the Vicksburg Post ST.
