Harrell Tucker and Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosefield Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. The Pitman family will receive guests on Wednesday evening at the church from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Elton Lee Pitman was born on April 2, 1929 in Delhi, LA to the union of his parents, Willie Leo Pitman and Hattie Mae Duke Pitman. From his early years he had a love for horses and cattle, and this played a role in his life, actually breaking horses for others and being a cattleman. He was also an aircraft mechanic, and a mechanic with the Caldwell Parish Shool System. He was decorated Veteran of the Korean War and was honored with the Silver Star and the Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Rosefield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ruth Ann Carter; brother, Obie Pitman, and by his sister, Avice Sikes. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Anna Ruth Pitman of Grayson; daughters, Linda McGee and husband Mike of West Monroe, and Sharon Roberts of Bebe, AR; sisters, Gracie Roberts of Olla, Waymel Smith of Houston, TX, Eunice Hudson of Mer Rouge, and Virginia Womack of Siloam Springs, AR; grandchildren, Stacey Pitman, Shaun Meredith, Kim Winn, Lea Anna Collinson, Jessica Daily, and Melissa Fife; eleven great grand children, and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers include Scott Winn, Dustin Head, Phillip White, Stacey Pitman, Gary Tucker, and Drew White. Honorary pallbearers will be G.L. Cruse, Mike McGee, Murrell McGuffee.
