ANDING PLAIA Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Plaia, 80, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jarrod Hawthorne officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery. Mrs. Plaia passed away peacefully at her home on February 5, 2015. Martha graduated from Ouachita Parish High School. She then began her career with LP&L, where she made many lifelong friends. She played an integral part in the formation of West Monroe Dixie Youth Girls Softball, by serving on the initial Board of Directors. She so enjoyed the years she coached with her husband, Andrew, who preceded her in death. Martha's biggest joy was cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and never failed to lend a helping hand. Martha was blessed with many gifts, she had an innate ability to create beautiful artwork, she was a talented seamstress and excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Vestula Freeman Davis; her sisters, Grace Hale, Hilda Cook, and Dorothy Wink; and by her brothers, Charles Thomas, Leroy Davis and Bob Davis. Survivors include her sister, Otella Robeson of Springfield, MO. She is the mother of Becky Loftin and husband, Richard, Dina Staggs and husband, Bubba, and Sarah Davidson and husband, Andy. Martha is the grandmother to Jacob Staggs and wife, Julia; Lindsay Loftin and A.J. Staggs; Richard Loftin, Jr. and wife, Alisha; Kelly Loftin Smith; Kathryn Loftin Spencer and husband, Brandon and great grandmother to Connor Loftin, Caroline Spencer, Evan Loftin, Jordan Young, Kai Spencer, Jaidyn Staggs, and Cameryn Spencer. Martha shared in the love of numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be her sons-in-laws and her grandsons. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M, Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Plaia's honor to ARCO. The family would like to give a special thank you to Lashanda Jones with St. Joseph Hospice and also to Janet McCuin for the care given to Mrs. Plaia during the past years.
