POOLE Nathan Humble "N.H." Poole, Jr., 81, of Bryant, Ark., formerly of Jena, La., died March 30, 2016. He was born at Enterprise, La., on October 10, 1934, to Nathan Humble Poole and Dessa McVay Poole. Nathan graduated from Enterprise High School in 1953 and two years later, on Sept. 1, 1955, he married Ernestine Andrews of Nickel, La. After working for an oil company in Port Sulphur for ten years, he and Ernie moved to Jena in 1966. For the next 31 years, he worked for Bodcaw Company and its successors, Placid and Hunt Petroleum, retiring in 1997. A dedicated member of First Baptist Church, Nathan served as a deacon for many years and helped Ernie with the ministry activities of the church's Mission Action Committee. Nathan was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viva Aarons, Verda Chapman, Vivian Sledge, Mildred Morvan, and Effie Lea Roark; and brothers, David and H. L. "Pill" Poole. He will be deeply missed by a loving family: daughter, Yvette Poole Palmer of Little Rock, Ark., and son, Stan Poole and his wife, Sue White Poole of Arkadelphia, Ark.; his surviving brother, Hershel Poole and wife Barbara; and his sister, Jolene McGuffee; four grandchildren, Matthew (Leah) Palmer, Michelle Palmer, Anna Grace (Reece) Franklin, and Caroline Poole; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, April 1 at Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home in Jena from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and at First Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service on Saturday. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at First Baptist Church of Jena. Interment will be at Aimoch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nickel, La., immediately following the service. Pallbearers are Max Andrews, Douglas Aarons, Rev. Danny Chapman, Cleve Ainsworth, Curtis Roark, Nathan Roark, and Sean Poole. Honorary pallbearers are Marty McClure, Charles Moffett, Darrel Wilson, and the deacons of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Mission Action Ministry of First Baptist Church Jena.
