Officiating will be Pastor Mark Foster and Pastor Emeritus Fred Foster. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe. Eula Dora Guess Porter passed away on January 19, 2011, at home in West Monroe. She was born in Cadeville, LA to Ida and Ben Guess on September 10, 1907. She was raised on a farm in the Eros area and graduated from Okaloosa High School. She moved to West Monroe wih her sister, Sallie Mae who was attending Northeast University. Eula went to work to help support them both. While on her job, she met her true love, C.J. "Buddy" Porter. They married and had two children, a son, Billy Joe Porter and a daughter, Barbara Porter Doyle. Later they built a home in the Ranson Field area, where they lived a life together for 49 years. Eula was a happy homemaker and loved working in her yard and garden. She was the happiest sitting in a boat fishing with her husband on Cheniere Lake. She was well known for her special "Coconut Cake" which she baked for friends, even into her nineties. Most important, Eula was a "Prayer Warrior" and everyone that came to visit her would put their picture in her home on the "Wall of Eyes" so Eula could pray for them. She was a true Christian woman that lived her life devoted to her church and her family. She was a member of The Pentecostals of the Twin Cities and a member of the Sunshine Club where she had many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Sallie Pardue; brothers, Lonnie, Daniel, Willie and Eslie Guess and a grandson, Josh Porter. Survivors are her son, Billy Joe Porter and his wife, Kathy of Jonesboro; daughter, Barbara Doyle and her husband, Mack of Starks, LA; 2 grandsons, Shannon Porter and his wife, Lori and Caleb Porter and his wife, Joni of West Monroe, and two granddaughters, Terri Doyle and Regina Thompson and her husband, Mike of Starks, LA; 4 great grandchildren, Sydney and Drake Porter and Brandon Thompson and Jennifer Barrow and her husband, Chad of DeQuincy, LA; 2 great great grandchildren, Sadie and Sarah Barrow; a very special niece, Frances Baker of Benton, LA and best friend, Virginia Simrall of West Monroe. Pallbearers will be Jay Copeland, Issac Howell, Brandon Thompson, Shannon Porter, Caleb Porter and Chad Barrow. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of West Monroe.
