Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Alabama Presbyterian Church under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Rev. Allison Moody will officiate. Interment will follow at Sibley Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 until time of service at the church. Gene was known for his love of family, friends, and community. He enjoyed life, encouraged many to find joy, and was always the entertainer. He loved to fish, hunt, play dominos, and have family around. Gene served our nation in the Armed forces serving in the Korean War stationed in Czechoslovakia, on the Russian border; retired with 44 years of service at Entergy and continued his career with additional 20 years of contract work. Gene served as a long term deacon at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant, Louisiana and in the choir at Highland Presbyterian Church of West Monroe, LA. Gene was preceded in death by his parents Elmore Jackson (EJ) Posey and Mattie Kate Dugdale Posey; two sisters, Mary Beth Posey, and Doris Posey Barrios. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 63 years Juanita Holstead Posey; son, Ronald Gene Posey and wife Peggy; daughter, Deborah Posey Chandler and husband Mark; and son, Jeffrey Thurman Posey and wife Beverly; 4 grandsons, Brandon Chandler (wife, Anna), Cody Chandler (wife, Keri), Gene Posey (wife, Robin), and Heath Posey; 2 granddaughters, Laura Posey and Kate Posey; and 4 great grandchildren, Landon Chandler, Grace Chandler, Blakelyn Posey, and Grant Chandler. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Brandon Chandler, Cody Chandler, Gene Posey and Heath Posey; and Wayne Patterson and Don Newell. Honorary Pallbearers are his longtime domino partner Darwin Fortune, and the Sibley Domino Hall Players. Memorials may be made to Alabama Presbyterian Church or to Sibley Cemetery.
