Kilpatrick Funeral Home Farmerville, LA Funeral service for Mr. Glen Fleming Post Jr., age 80, of Farmerville, LA will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday November 16, 2008 at Darbonne Church of Christ in Farmerville, LA. Officiating the service will be his Grandson Luke Post. Interment will follow at Port Union Cemetery in Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mr. Post was born August 24, 1928, and passed away November 14, 2008 following a brief illness. Mr. Post was a member of Darbonne Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rachel and Glen Post, Sr, and brother: Ben F. Post. Mr. Post graduated from Marion High School in 1945. A recognized athlete, he attended college on an athletic scholarship and excelled in football, baseball, and boxing. He went on to play in the Big Eight Baseball League where he earned the MVP award for five years. He signed a contract to play for the Detroit Tigers but decided to marry his sweetheart, Mary Turbeville, and stay in north Louisiana. In addition to his degree in education from Louisiana Tech, he earned a Masters in School Administration from the University of Arkansas. He became a teacher and coach at Bernice High School for two years and coached fifteen years at Marion High School. He won numerous district championships and a number of state championships in baseball and basketball. He eventually became director of North Central Vocational Technical College from which he retired. He then owned and operated a food businesses in Farmerville, Louisiana, for almost thirty years. Big Daddy was an elder at the Darbonne Church of Christ where he loved and was loved by many. He had an amazing number of friends and influenced the lives of many over the years. He was an avid deer hunter and loved spending time in the woods hunting and preparing to hunt. Big Daddy loved his family dearly, and he will leave a void that will be difficult to fill. His family, though, is confident that he has gone to be with the Lord whom he loved greatly. He is survived by his wife Mary Turbeville Post, son: Glen Post III, and wife Cynthia of Farmerville; daughters: Mary Kay Lee and husband Ricky, Judy Orten and husband Jamie, and Jeanie Carpenter and husband Lyndon all of Farmerville, LA.; grandchildren: Rich Lee and wife Holli, Brad Post and wife Ashley, Luke Post and wife Olivia, Mary Louisa Lee McMahon and husband Brodie, Matt Post and wife Lisa, Julie Orten Smith and husband Cullen, JoJo Orten Willis and husband Ryan, Landon Bain Carpenter, and Joe Chandler Carpenter, and soon to be born, Jennalyn Carpenter, and eleven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Joe Pickle, Tommy Futch, Ronny Blazier, Jimmy Blake, Ray Alexander, Dwight Long, David Post, and John D.Turbeville. Honorary Pallbrearers will be J.A. Auger, Dr. Guthrie Jarrell, Thurmon Webb, men of the Darbonne and Fairview churches of Christ. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday November 15, 2008 at Darbonne Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
