Pratt, a resident of Tampa, Florida and Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2016. He was born in Bastrop, Louisiana March 1, 1948 and was a son of the late Dr. Claude W. Pratt and Clara Belle Puckett Pratt. Will graduated from Bastrop High School. He attended Georgia Military Academy in Atlanta (now Woodward) two summers, 1963 and 1965. Upon graduation from Bastrop High, he attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe (now ULM) and obtained a degree in industrial management. He received a masters from Loyola University in New Orleans and completed a three year banking course from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Pratt went on to have a very successful career in banking ultimately managing a syndicated group of banks with his partner and friend, W. Elton Kennedy. At the age of 33, he was the youngest bank president in Louisiana history. At one time, Pratt was the only banker in Louisiana to be president of a state chartered and nationally chartered bank at the same time. In addition, he received national recognition when WCNB (West Carroll National Bank) was recognized by American Banker Newspaper as one of the top 100 most profitable banks in the country. Will was able to reach and relate to everyone he met. He prided himself in recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of others to their trade and profession. Will appreciated hard work from his time as a laborer in the pipeline industry. He demanded the very best of himself in his endeavors and in return expected and encouraged others to fulfill their full potential. While he thoroughly enjoyed his banking career, upon full retirement in 2005, he moved to Blue Mountain Beach, FL where he enjoyed taking long walks, entertaining friends, and cooking which was his life long passion. First and foremost he loved his family but he also loved life itself. He had a colorful personality and made friends where ever he went. While he had spent much time in Colorado the last 5 years, he looked forward to returning permanently to a home in Florida overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to MD Anderson or the American Heart Association . Family will announce a memorial service at a later date.
