Joey Dean Pruitt was a big man with a big heart. He was born to the union of Doris Averett & George Pruitt on November 13, 1963 in Delhi, LA. He passed from this life at his home outside of Crowville on March 20, 2017, after a lengthy illness. A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home in Delhi at 7:00 PM with Bro. Todd Perry officiating. Family will receive friends between the hours of 5 PM until 7PM on Thursday at Cox Funeral Home. Joey spent his adult years building a life and family with his wife of almost 30 years, Diane Garner Pruitt. While Joey worked as a heavy equipment operator and Diane as a nurse, they were proud to raise three fine sons, all whom have now started families of their own. Joey is survived by his wife, Diane; and his sons and their wives- Brian & Jennifer Garner of Crowville; Heath & Kallie Pruitt of Crowville and Hunter & Indya Pruitt of Delhi. But the light in Joey's eyes for the last two years came from the overwhelming love he felt for his three grandchildren-Brian & Jennifer's son, Tucker Garner; and Hunter & Indya's daughters, Peyton & Josephine Pruitt. These three did no wrong in Joey's eyes and he was well on his way to teaching them his motto of, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission." Joey was preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother George Pruitt Jr. of Monroe. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Englerth and husband Don of Gilbert, LA, brother Paul Pruitt of Delhi; special niece, Taylor Payne and husband Daniel of Walker, LA; his loving mother-in-law, Sue Bush of Crowville; and his two spoiled labradors, Avery & Sister.
