THOMAS RICHARD JR. PURCELL 


A funeral mass for Richard Purcell will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, 
May 22, 2013 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, 
with Father Job Edathinatt officiating. Interment will be in Mulhearn Memorial 
Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe.

Richard Purcell was born in Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1952, and passed away 
on May 19, 2013, at the age of 60. Richard Purcell was a member of St. Lawrence 
Catholic Church. He retired from BellSouth after 30 years. He enjoyed outdoor 
sports, motorcycle riding and playing the guitar.

He was preceded in his death by his parents, Thomas Richard Purcell, Sr., and 
Dovie Johnston Purcell, and his father and mother in law, Ludvic and Meytris 
Herlevic.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Peggy Herlevic Purcell; daughters, Lori 
Purcell-McDonald and husband Latner of Monroe and Lisa Purcell of Pelham, AL; 
brothers, Michael Purcell and wife Judy of Holly Ridge, LA and Edward Purcell 
and wife Clare of Taos, New Mexico; grandson, Cooper McDonald of Monroe; two 
nieces; and five nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Oglesbee, Brian Oglesbee, Todd Oglesbee, Sonny 
Harrington, Mike Hilton and Donnie Small. Honorary pallbearers will be Cooper 
McDonald, Kent Bennett, Greg Hare and David Beauvais.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Vigil Wake service at 7:00 
PM Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church 
Building Fund, 357 Swartz School Road, Monroe, LA 71203.
