FREDERICK EDWIN PURIFOY


Funeral services for Frederick Edwin Purifoy, 74, of Houston, TX, will be held 
at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2013, in the Chapel at Mulhearn Funeral 
Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Private 
interment will be in Loch Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Purifoy passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Methodist Hospital in 
Houston, TX. He was born in Camden, AR and raised in Monroe, LA. He graduated 
from Ouachita Parish High School in 1956. After serving four years in the 
Navy, he earned his Bachelors in Physics and Math at Northeast Louisiana 
University. Mr. Purifoy spent 20 years serving his country in the U.S. Air 
Force and retired as Captain. He taught physics and math for 10 years in Texas 
including Malakoff High School and North Zulch High School. He resided in 
Houston, TX after he retired and enjoyed his favorite hobbies of gardening, 
cooking, sailing and traveling. He will be remembered as a loving husband and 
father.

Mr. Purifoy was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Hare Purifoy Ragsdale; 
and father, Lloyd Ogden Purifoy.

Survivors include his wife, Elena Zhurina; daughters, Cynthia Johnson and 
husband Jay, Melanie Schickel and husband Ralph, Katrina Purifoy; sons, Craig 
Purifoy and wife Dania, Frederick Purifoy Jr.; and granddaughters, Riley 
Johnson and Reagan Johnson.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time Saturday at Mulhearn 
Funeral Home
