PURYEAR Monroe, LA. Janie F. Puryear was born April 18, 1915 in Montpelier, Ohio and died peacefully at the Oaks in Monroe on June 21, 2010. She spent much of her younger life in St. Petersburg, Florida where she excelled as a country club golfer. Janie loved to travel and saw many interesting parts of the world in her lifetime, both as in her work as a Red Cross Disaster Worker, and on her own, touring in Europe and Asia. For many years Janie was a familiar face as a volunteer at St. Francis Hospital in the gift shop and in the halls delivering flowers to the patients. Janie loved her work there and the many associations that it brought her. She is survived by her daughter Sandra Casteel and husband Charles of Monroe and Granddaughter Rebecca Bougie, husband Paul and Great Grandson Ryan Bougie of Dallas, Texas; and by her Granddaughter Mary Kight of Allen, Texas. She was proceeded in death by her Grand-daughter Janey Kight. Janie made her very personal gift to the LSU School of Medicine and a memorial service will be held at a later time. The family asks that any memorial gifts be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1901 Lexington Ave., Monroe, LA 71201.
