Mrs. Rainey was born at home in the Nobles Community of North Louisiana on October 18, 1935 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 23, 2014. She married Lester Alfred Rainey in 1950. They shared 52 years together and raised two children. In addition to being a loving mother and grandmother, her career as a business manager at Lincoln General Hospital spanned nearly 40 years. She was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served on numerous committees, most notably: The Grace Quilters, The Finance Committee, and The Board of Trustees. She provided meals to grieving families, care to the sick, companionship to the elderly, and always reached out to those in need. She was a humble servant of the Lord and her generous spirit and unconditional love was evident in every aspect of her life. The positive impact she leaves on her family, friends, and community will be everlasting. She is preceded in death by her husband: L.A. Rainey, Jr; grandson: Andy Robinson, and six brothers and sisters. Mrs. Rainey is survived by her children: Debbie Rainey Robinson and husband Modell of Ruston, and Gary Rainey also of Ruston; grandchildren: Jeff Robinson and his wife, Brooke; Anna Rainey, and Natalie DiPasquale; great grandchildren: Owen Robinson, Blake Robinson, Phoenix Robinson and Sydney Brown; sister: Judy Wasson of Welfare, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved four legged companion, Gracie. The family expresses a special thanks to Dr. Tom Morris, Dr. Tommy Smith, Dr. Billy Smith, the ICU staff and other caregivers at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Salem United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time (4:00 PM) on Sunday May 25, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston.
