SARA LOWREY RAMBIN

Funeral services for Sara Lowrey Rambin, 81, of Monroe, will be held at 1:00 
PM Friday, April 19, 2013, at Parkview Baptist Church Chapel, Monroe, with 
Rev. Erby Burgess officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 PM Friday at 
Weldon Baptist Church Cemetery north of Bernice, LA.

Mrs. Rambin was born in Bernice, LA March 20, 1932 to R. B. and Callie Lowrey 
and passed away peacefully at her home in Monroe on April 17, 2013 after a 
lengthy battle with dementia.

Survivors include her husband, R. Lavelle Rambin; four children, Judy Hughes, 
Chris Rambin, Jane Stanio, and Jonathan Rambin; four grandchildren, John 
Williams, Anna Claire Varnado, Jonathan Rambin II, and Jenna Rambin; and one 
great granddaughter, Marin Varnado. She is also survived by her sisters, Grace 
Bentley and Louise Thurmon; her brothers, Rives Lowrey and David Lowrey.

Mrs. Rambin attended Louisiana Tech University where she met and married 
Lavelle Rambin in 1953. She earned her degree in Home Economics in 1955 and 
later returned to Tech for a master's degree in Counseling.

Since her husband was an Air Force career officer, the couple was stationed at 
various places across the U. S. until he retired back in Louisiana in 1976. 
They have resided in north Louisiana ever since. In every place they lived, 
Mrs. Rambin faithfully served the Lord in a local Baptist church, especially 
teaching the Bible to children.

She was highly recognized and awarded during her twenty years as a caring 
school teacher and counselor. Many of her former students and colleagues have 
expressed their appreciation for her tender touch and great wisdom provided 
them through many years of counseling.

She will always be remembered for her love for her Lord, her family and her 
many friends.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Hughes, Lester Skelton, Lewis Stanio, Wayne Thurmon, 
Billy Thurmon, and Darrell Washam.

Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 PM until service time at Parkview Baptist 
Church.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff and workers at Premier 
Hospice for the loving and professional care given to Mrs. Rambin during the 
past few months.

Memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church, 1001 Forsythe Avenue, 
Monroe, LA 71201.
