Monroe, LA

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Shipp Ramsey, 81, of Monroe, LA will be at 
11:00 AM, Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Parkview Baptist Church of Monroe 
with Dr. E. Whit Holmes and Rev. Terry Barnes officiating. Interment will 
follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home 
of Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Ramsey was born August 4, 1927 in Bosco, LA and passed away on November 
19, 2008 at Monroe, LA. Mrs. Ramsey graduated from Ouachita Parish High School 
and Northeast Louisiana Junior College. Over her lifetime, she was a piano 
teacher, elementary teacher, homemaker, and real estate agent. She was active 
in many organizations including the Girl Scouts of America, Eastern Star, 
Chapter AK of P.E.O., Monroe Downtown Lions Club, Kaleidoscope, Daughters of 
the American Revolution and Junior League of Monroe. She belonged to Parkview 
Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the choir.

Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Marvin O. 
Ramsey, Sr., her parents James Allen and Mattie Owens Shipp, brothers, James 
Marvin and Garland Allen Shipp and sister, Vivian Shipp Long.

Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her children, Marvin Owen, Jr. and wife, Rhonda, 
Rebecca Ramsey Fleming and husband, Robert, and Sue Ramsey Rainer and husband, 
Bob. Her grandchildren are: Scott Rainer and wife, Casey, Sam Rainer, Rob 
Fleming and wife, Angela, Mollie Fleming and David Ramsey and wife, Brittany. 
She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren: Ramsey Kuhn, Audrey and Sarah 
Rainer, and Ashley Fleming.

Pallbearers are Scott Rainer, Sam Rainer, Rob Fleming, David Ramsey, Harvey 
Gregg, Wayne Shipp and Donald Lee Davidson.

Memorials can be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, 
Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, or P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education, 
2710 Indian Mound Boulevard, Monroe, LA 71201.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, November 21, 2008 at 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
