RASBERRY James W. Rasbeny, 88 of Jonesboro Louisiana passed away July 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Quitman, LA to Willie Mae and James Hermie Rasberry on July 31, 1926. He was the eldest of eight children with seven brothers and one sister. He graduated from Beech Springs High School and afterward attended trade school studying Machinery. Upon completion he worked in the Houston Ship Yard. He later enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 where he served on an LST amphibious landing Ship. James met and married Elouise Shows in January of 1946. Together they had three children, Diane, Linda and James A. In 1946 James became employed by the Hodge Paper Mill. He worked as a respected Machinist for 43 years. He was a man of Christian faith and a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church for over 40 years where he served many of those years on the Deacon Board. Upon retirement he and his bride Elouise bought a travel trailor and set out for adventures in camping, exploring and traveling the US. JWR was a creative clever man that enjoyed designing outdoor art. He enjoyed reading Novels, mostly old westerns. His passion for his Christian faith echoed in every aspect of his life and he was considered kind by everyone who knew him. He was a delightful optimist that carried a constant grin and a chuckle. James was survived by his wife Elouise Shows Rasberry, daughters Diane Rasberry, Linda Blackstock and husband Ray. Also one son James A. Rasberry and wife Debra. There are also five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one fabulous great great grandson. He will be truly missed! Funeral services will be at 10 A.M. on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Bro. Randy Dark officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Jonesboro. Services are under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro, LA.
