RAWLS Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral Services for Mr. Ecell O. Rawls, 84, of Calhoun, will be 10:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA with Rev. Byron Ball and Rev. Roy Duffey officiating. Interment will follow at Driskell Mountain Cemetery. Mr. Rawls was born March 12, 1924 and passed away on February 3, 2009 at his residence. He is preceded in death by wife, Mattie Sudie Smith Rawls; grandson, Clinton Thomas Ball; and brother, Alfred Rawls. Mr. Rawls was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great- grandfather, family man and friend. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart. Mr. Rawls worked many years in Andrews, Texas in the oil field as a driller. He was nicknamed "Gabby" by his co-workers due to him being a "quiet man." The oil field was one of his many passions. He served in the United Stated Navy during WWII as a cook on the USS Oklawaha A084. He was proud to be an American. He is survived by his eight children, Donald Rawls of Calhoun, LA, Gloria Elaine Taylor of Downsville, LA, Glenda Diane Fuston of Abilene, TX, Ecell O. Rawls, Jr., of West Monroe, LA, Mary Susie Ball of Abilene, TX, Gary Wayne Rawls, of Andrews, TX, Patricia Ann Young of Dunedin, FL, and Ronald Dale Rawls of Andrews, TX; twenty two grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; and two brothers, Carl Travis "Red" Rawls, Oscar Rawls and their families. Pallbearers will be Shane Rawls, Chad Fuston, Eric Rose, Nathan Rawls, Perry Rose, Daniel Rawls, and Micah Rawls. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cody Fuston, Larry Taylor Jr., and Charles Boshell. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
