He grew up on a farm and developed a love for horses and ranching. After graduating from Farmerville High School, he attended Louisiana State University. His studies were interrupted by World War II. He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served during both World War II and the Korean conflict. Toward the end of World War II, Revels met the love of his life, Virginia Wooley, while at Camp Crowder in southwestern Missouri. They recently celebrated seventy years of marriage. Soon after getting married, they moved to Bastrop, Louisiana where Revels began a 50 year career at Bastrop National Bank. He graduated from the Banking School of the South at LSU and served as a board member of the Morehouse Parish School Board and many other civic organizations. He proudly served as President of Bastrop National Bank his last 35 years, retiring in 1995 soon after the bank was sold to Hibernia National Bank (now Capital One). Revels dearly loved the bank, its devoted employees, the members of First Baptist Church of which he was a longtime, loyal member, and the people of Bastrop whom he had the privilege of serving. His family wants to thank his loving caregivers, Lovell Blakely, Carolyn Alford, and John Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to either First Baptist Church, 620 East Madison Avenue, Bastrop, Louisiana 71220 or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, Louisiana 71203.
