Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Steve Allen "Skip" Rice, Jr., 35, of Eros will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, April 19, 2009 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Dwight Munn officiating. Steve was born February 18, 1974 and died April 16, 2009 after a short illness. Steve was a member of First Baptist Church of West Monroe. He was passionate about music. It didn't matter if he was singing or just listening. He enjoyed spending time outdoors: fishing, hunting, and for a time working in scouts teaching young boys to enjoy and appreciate God's great outdoors. His family was an important part of his world. He looked forward to playing cards, dominoes, and just getting together at family gatherings. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James E. Rice, Sr., Jackie Rice, and Cal Scoggins; and his uncles, Jim, Fred, and Doc. He is survived by his mother, Karen Martin and husband Malcolm of Calhoun; his father, Steve Rice, Sr. and wife Julie of Eros; one half-brother, Lee Simpson and wife Tiffany of Farmerville; grandmother, Norma Scoggins of Ruston; several aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and really good friends. To know Steve was to love Steve. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Broadway, Karl Kaufman, Rodney Murray, David Rice, Fred Rice, Jr., Michael Rice, Jr., Rusty Rice, Chris Robertson, and Lee Simpson. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 AM until service time Sunday both at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
