Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at Osborn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Francis Kamau, and assisted by Deacon Clary Nash, both of Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent Ave. Rick was born November 14, 1923 in Virden, Illinois, raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and resided in Shreveport for the past 48 years. As a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church he held positions on the pastoral and finance councils and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years of his life he was a daily Mass communicant. Mr. Richter was a member of the United States Marine Corps, served in the Pacific during World War II, and was recalled to the Korean War. On his recall he was asked if he knew Morse Code. After answering "yes", he went back to the barracks and learned the code for the first time that very night. He always tackled obstacles that way. Rick held a private pilot's license and rank of Major in the Civil Air Patrol, and was a past Commander of the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Squadron at Barksdale AFB. He was a life member of the Floyd L. Baxter Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Mr. Richter was past President of the Independent Insurance Adjusters of LA and founded H. C. Richter & Company, Inc. in 1965. After selling his company, he was offered a position and later retired as Executive Vice President of Mid- South Group in 1990. He was a member of Northwest Louisiana Claims Association and held a Fire & Casualty Insurance solicitor's license. Mr. Richter was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Bax Richter; four brothers and sisters: Wilbur Richter, Alvin Richter, Virginia Powers and Lorraine Klima. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Margaret Browning Richter, a native of Texarkana, TX; four sons, Dr. Randy Conrad Richter and wife, Diane Noles, of Haughton; Fr. David Thomas Richter, of Monroe; Dr. Jon Kevin Richter and wife, Pamela Kinney, of Berryville, AR; and Mark Alan Richter and wife, Mary Carriere, of Shreveport; and his brother-in- law, John Browning of Texarkana, TX. Rick and Margaret always looked forward to time with their family and especially enjoyed time spent with their ten grandchildren who range in age from 7-39. Pallbearers will be his four sons and two eldest grandsons, Eric and Adam Richter. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Floyd L.
