"BUTCH" ROARK E. L. "Butch" Roark of West Monroe, LA passed from this life to be greeted by Christ on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. His service will be at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, West Monroe at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 30, 2015 with Bro. Randy Burdeaux and Bro. Johnny Hankins officiating under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe. He was born on December 2, 1942 and went to be with his Lord on January 27, 2015. Interment will be held at Hasley Cemetery immediately following the service. Butch served in Viet Nam with the 525th Engineer Detachment U .S. Army. He was with the West Monroe Fire Department, where he later achieved the position of fire chief. He served from 1961 until 1984 when he retired. In 2004, he retired from Coburn's Supply Co. where he was in sales. Hunting was his pastime and people his enjoyment. He was a proud member of the NRA. He loved others and Christ first. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". His wife of 34 years, Doris Nell Roark; father, Harvey Roark and mother, Viola Roark of Jena preceded him in death. Survivors are Rita E. Roark, wife; daughter Amanda and husband Brian Treno; son, Kevin Roark of West Monroe; daughter, Kelly and husband Paul Guerrero of Ruston; stepson, David Shaner and wife, Ann Marie; stepdaughter, Rita K. Russell and husband Scott; grandchildren, Philip Roark, Brandon Treno, Kyle Roark, Ethan Treno, Emily Grace Treno, and Owen Guerrero; step grandchildren, Zach Masimore and wife Amanda; great granddaughter, Kalee Masimore, all of West Monroe, Megan Shaner, Tara Masimore with Ken Kunkle and great granddaughter, Adriana Marie Kunkle; great granddaughter, Brooke Hertz of PA; Also, Coquette his little dog and Tigs, his cat. All were the joy of his life. In addition, surviving are his four sisters and two brothers. Genette and Carl Cruse of Onalaska, Tx, Linda and Jerry Childers of Shreveport, Delilah and Gary Stringer of West Monroe, Olga Graham of Conroe, Tx., Ken and Nancy Roark of Jena, La, and Glen and Levena Roark of Summerville, La. He had numerous nieces and nephews. A host of friends will miss him also. Pallbearers will be Scott Russell, Kevin Telano, Brian Treno, Paul Guerrero, Philip Roark and Brandon Treno. Honorary pallbearers are the Monday Eve Bible Study Group at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church or "I Wish I Could" foundation for children with cancer.
