ROBERTS JR. Cox Funeral Home Delhi, LA. Tommy Roberts, 69, of Delhi was born on April 4, 1940 in West Monroe, LA to Thomas F. Roberts Sr. and Margueritte Jowers Roberts and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 in West Monroe following a brief illness. Tommy was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a former Diesel Engine Mechanic with Michigan Wiscosin Pipeline Co., former truck driver and was a member of the Dunn Baptist Church. Tommy loved watching not only his grandsons, but the entire DCS football & baseball teams and faithfully followed all the young boys and was proud of their development. He is preceded in death by his father. Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Howard Roberts of Delhi; two daughters, Tammie Diane Roberts and Brandi Roberts Simms and husband Chris all of Delhi; two grandsons, Heath and Hunter Simms of Delhi; his mother, Margueritte Roberts of Delhi; mother-in-law, Mildred Howard Holland of Delhi; one brother, Garry Dean Roberts and wife Jackie of Mesquite, TX; an uncle, John Jowers of West Monroe, LA; two aunts, Mary Jowers Whitehead and Bernice Jowers both of West Monroe, LA and numerous cousins and other close relatives. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the Dunn Baptist Church with Rev. Bernard Duchesne Jr. and Rev. W. H. "Buckie" Curry officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 1, 2010 at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Burial with Military honors will be held in the Faith Memorial Park Cemetery near Delhi. Pallbearers will be the 2010 Seniors of the Delhi Charter School Football team; Hunter Pruitt, Zac Bembenick, Kyle Hammons, Randy Julian, Ben Gates, John Hansen, Justin Ogden, Justin Ford, Josh Wallace, Tyler Sanders & Kent Speight. Honorary pallbearers will be Otha Nielsen, Everett Mooney, Allen Neal, Sonny Hosea and Dr. Samuel P. Scurria.
