Doris passed away after a lengthy illness on February 24, 2017 surrounded by her son, brothers, sister, and family who dearly loved her. Doris was born on May 3, 1945 in Farmerville, LA, the fifth child of Zeola Dean and Duke Nolan. She spent her childhood running through the woods near Crossroads. At the age of 20, she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and fought every day to enjoy her life. And she did. She graduated from Farmerville High School and continued her education at BMI Business School. Doris later worked in the accounting department at Ouachita National Bank as well as other bookkeeping jobs. After her son Chris was born, she stayed at home with him. She loved reading, working puzzles, fishing, and tending to her African Violets. Doris was sincere, kind, patient, witty, and loving. She is remembered for knowing the names of every niece, nephew, and every distant cousin and their spouses. She loved collecting family memories in her scrapbook and in picture frames. Doris is preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Robinson and her parents. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Jon Christopher Robinson; sister, Marguerite Newsom and husband, Bobby; brothers and their wives: Roy and Rita Nolan, Freddy and Reba Nolan, and Carl and Alice Nolan. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Doris will be greatly missed by all, but her spirit will live on in all of us. Please join Doris' family in celebrating her life on Monday, February 27th at 2:00pm at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon Monday until time of service at 2:00pm. Burial will be at Crossroads Cemetery and family will serve as pallbearers.
