Bill Strawbridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 10a.m. until service time. Mrs. Rockhold was born on August 12, 1916 and passed away on May 25, 2014. She was 97. She is survived by her son, John Rockhold (Tony) and wife Sherry of Petal, MS, and daughter Sylvia R. Hudson of Bethany, LA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Nathan Rockhold, Gregg Hudson and wife Angie, Ralph Hudson, Cliff Hudson and wife Susie, Randall Hudson, and Rhonda H. Crowe and husband Kelly, eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Also surviving her a special niece, Janet Brown and special caregiver and friend Teresa Walker. Mrs. Rockhold was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Rockhold, infant son, Jack Rockhold, son-in-law Robert W. Hudson, grandson, Robert W. Hudson, II (Rusty), great grandson, Wes Davenport, sister, Ruth Dorroh and her brother John Browne. Mrs. Rockhold was a member of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church where she was very active serving as a Sunday School teacher, the Administrative Board in various positions of leadership as well as the United Methodist Women. She was named United Methodist Woman of the year in Mission for the state. She worked tirelessly with the UMW annual bazaar. She served as a docent at the Jackson Parish Museum. She was a member of the Jackson Parish Retired Teachers Association and the Garden Club. She was a past recipient of the Jackson Parish Woman of the Year award. She received a degree in Education from George Peabody College (Vanderbilt), Masters Degree and a +30 in Education from Louisiana Tech University. She taught 24 years in the Jackson Parish school system, with 17 of those years at Jonesboro-Hodge High School. She was an Associate Professor of English at Grambling State University from which she retired after twelve years of service. Mrs. Rockhold was on the board at the Methodist Childrens Home in Ruston. At one time she wrote the English portion of the ACT test. She was an active member of the Eastern Star and held national positions. Pallbearers will be, Ralph Hudson, Gregg Hudson, Cliff Hudson, Nathan Rockhold, Bill Brown and Ned Beatty.
