As she prayed for her family daily, she called each one by name. She had a true concern for people and a special love for all children. She could make the youngest of babies smile. Over the years, she served in many capacities at Calvary Baptist Church in Monroe and Evergreen Baptist Church in Bernice. She always led a God-centered life, and felt that her ministry was to call, provide food and send cards to those in need. Any and all were welcomed during Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. She liked nothing better than having friends and family crowding in and enjoying themselves. When asked her secret to life, she quickly replied, "Love the Lord and love others". God truly blessed her with a loving family, good health, a supportive church and community which she loved dearly and where her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. Her passing leaves a huge hole in our lives that will never be completely filled again. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 68 years, Cecil F. "Red" Rogers; her daughter, Deborah Rogers Johnson; two grandsons, David R. Pilgreen and Mason Rogers; her two brothers, Wilford "Ted" Walker and Durwood Walker. She is survived by her children, Helene Pilgreen and Ervin; Ronnie Rogers and Debbie; Dennis "Rudy" Rogers and Rose; Gregory Rogers and Laurie. Ten grandchildren: Nathaniel Pilgreen, Crystal Thompson Davis, Clint Thompson, Kandi Rogers Nolan, Allan Pilgreen, Terri Pilgreen Rogers, Haley Rogers Wiggins, Collin Rogers, Cortney Rogers and Britney Rogers. In addition, nine great -grandchildren and one great -great grandchild. Two sisters-in-law: Faye Simpson Rogers and Annie Jo Rogers Houston. Even though all her friends were special to her, there are some long-time friends she would honor: Belma Street, Bobbie Paul, Violet McEnery and Gail Reeves. She also had many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends that she loved and doted over each one. She loved all those at Arbor Rose Assisted Living in Farmerville who loved her in kind. Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Pilgreen, Clint Thompson, Allan Pilgreen, Collin Rogers, Connor Davis, Mike Nolan, Reed Rogers, and Aaron Wiggins.
