Matthew Long officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Mrs. Rooney was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, November 2, 1927, and passed away in Monroe, LA, on August 9, 2016, at St. Joseph's Nursing Home. She loved walking to her job of 36 years at her home church, Jesus the Good Shepherd. She is and will always be remembered for her kind voice and a cheerful personality that would radiate through anyone around her. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as well as her friends, especially Stuart and Corrine Novak. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harold Rooney; parents, Julie Christine and Frank Huemmer; brother, Edward Huemmer; and sister, Eleanor Steokinger. Survivors include her two sons, Charles Rooney and wife Maureen, and Mike Rooney and wife Teresa; as well as two daughters, Janet Colvin, and Marilyn Finch and husband Jimmy. Mrs. Rooney is also survived by three brothers, Tom Huemmer, Frank Huemmer and wife Carole, and John Huemmer and wife Jamie; nine grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. Pallbearers are Christopher Colvin, Austin Finch, Adam Hansen, Brad Jones, Anthony Malta, and Jeremy Malta. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph's Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care. Memorials may be made to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
