A funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Keith Garvin and Rev. Job Edathinatt Scaria officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM in the church narthex. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe. Dan and his family have been proud residents of Monroe since 1978 opening Mr. Taco, eventually Taco Bandido, across from Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM) in 1975. He was partly responsible for introducing the area to a new taste in south of the border food. He worked hard to develop his own recipes for mild and spicy sauces; taco meat seasonings, the "famous" Taco Bandido hot sauce, and cooking fast-casual food the "old timey way." He loved the restaurant business after being introduced to it in the 1960's by the original owners of Pizza Hut, Inc., Wichita, Kansas, where he served as area general manager during the early years of that company. For the past 40 years he has mentored many young people while training them for the business world. He considered his employees as an extension of his family. Mr. Ross was born March 2, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. He received his education from Chaplain Kapaun Jesuit High School and Wichita State University, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard during the Vietnam Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenda and Leo Ross of Wichita. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon; sons, Daniel, Jr., and Jason of Monroe; brothers, Larry and Jon; sister Janis Hackenburg and husband Bob; all of Wichita; sister-in-law, Nancy Lacy and husband Harold of Golden, Colorado; brother-in-law and "3rd Brother", Mike Bollinger and wife Pam of Olathe, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Megan Kinsey and Brian Bradley of Wichita; nephews, Kevin Bollinger of Overland Park, Kansas, and Brian Bollinger of Shawnee, Kansas, Kirsten Britz of Parker, Colorado, and Kimberly Bronhard of Dedham, Massachusetts. Pallbearers will be Kevin Bollinger, Brian Bollinger, Sean Landry, Cliff Pipes, Ben Peters, Jeff Joyce, Jeff Malmstrom, John Lauve, John Joyce and Palmer Jarrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Ross, Terry Moore, Joe Mallard, and Jon Ross. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic School, ATTN: Daniel L.
