JOHN BENJAMIN ROY


John Benjamin Roy, of Monroe, passed away on August 7, 2017.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017 between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at
Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane. Funeral services will be held Thursday,
August 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane.

John B. Roy was born in Gujranwala, Pakistan on October 6, 1934. He received his
Bachelor's of Science from Gordon College in Pakistan in Math. He spent the
majority of his life teaching high school Mathematics. He immigrated to America
in 1976 along with his family seeking the American Dream. He achieved this dream
in America by working hard and raising successful children. Although he loved
his home country of Pakistan, he thoroughly enjoyed the freedom and
opportunities America presented. He instilled in his family eastern traditions
and new world values. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in
Monroe. His hobbies were watching wrestling and spending time with his family.
He was best described as a simple man who emphasized hard work, integrity, and
perseverance. He believed in standing your ground despite adversity.

John B. Roy is survived by his wife Margaret Elahi Roy and his children Saqib
Roy and his wife Humaira Roy, Sadaf Ruth Shaw and her husband Waseem Shaw, and
Samer Roy MD and his wife Uzma Roy. His surviving siblings include James Roy,
Jacob Roy, and Justin Roy. His grandchildren include Sarah Roy, Rebecca Roy,
Jonathan Roy, Zachary Shaw, Jadon Roy, Samantha Roy, Joshua Roy, Luke Shaw,
Jason Roy, and Sienna Roy.

Pallbearers will be Ahsan Henry, Saqib Roy, Waseem Shaw, Samer Roy, Haroon Roy,
and Roger Elahi.
