Bill Fowler and Rev. Pat Lofton officiating. Interment will be in the New Forest Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 5PM - 8PM at the church. He is preceded in death by his son, Bruce Lynn Rye; parents, John Mark Rye and Ora Lee Rye; three brothers, John Gaines Rye, Eugene Harold Rye, and Jerry Marcus Rye. Luke served his country during the Korean War as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Signal Corp from 1951-1955. He began farming with his father and brothers in London, AR and moved his family to Pioneer, LA in 1963, where he continued farming rice and soybeans until retirement. He married Mary Jane Keller Rye on November 21, 1953 and they were married for 62 years. He got his pilots license after being discharged from the Army and he also crop dusted and flew leisurely. He was an active member of Pioneer Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and in many other capacities from 1963 until present day. Luke is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Jane Keller Rye of Pioneer, LA; daughter, Paula Rye Gathings of Monticello, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Cherry Rye of Oak Grove, LA; son,and daughter-in-law, Randy and Charlotte Rye of Bella Vista, AR; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Rye of Oak Grove, LA; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Rye, Chad Rye, Matt Rye, Mitchell Gathings, Darby Rye, Patrick Rye, Coy Rye, Steven Williams, Nick Freyaldenhoven, and Kris Cox.
