MARY ROTH (BETTY) RYMER

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Roth (Betty) Rymer, 85, of Monroe will be held 
at 10 AM Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with the 
Rev. Bruce Rux officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park 
Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, 
Monroe.

Mrs. Rymer died Friday at St. Francis Medical Center after a brief illness. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rymer.

Mrs. Rymer became a resident of Monroe in 1962. She was a member of Covenant 
Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women. Her other 
volunteer activities included membership in the Monroe Garden Club and Nota 
Bene, and she was a Pink Lady at St. Francis Medical Center for a number of 
years.

Born on June 10, 1923, in Jefferson City, Tenn, Mrs. Rymer was a graduate of 
Knoxville High School in Knoxville, Tenn. She earned her Bachelor of Science 
degree in 1947 from the University of Tennessee, where she was a member of the 
Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Mortar Board and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Shurley and husband Jim of Monroe; 
grandson, Will Shurley and wife Anna Kate of Titusville, NJ.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 at 
Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.

Pallbearers will be Richard Norris, Jerry Mott, Bill Wilson, Joe Holyfield, 
Jack Davis, and Johnny Albright.
