SATERFIEL Funeral Services for Mr. Herbert C. Saterfiel, 75, of Calhoun, LA will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 3, 2014 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Randy Burdeaux officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. Saterfiel was born on August 31, 1939 in Monroe, LA. He faithfully attended Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. Mr. Saterfiel was self-employed and certainly knew the meaning of hard work. Herbert was a very simple and generous man, willing to help anyone in need. He was an avid outdoorsman. Upon retiring, he could be found in any of the area lakes finding a sweet hole. To him, he felt closet to God when he was gardening. He said to take a grassy field and be able to produce an abundant crop was nothing short of a miracle. Mr. Saterfiel is preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Saterfiel; his parents, Cecil and Lillian Saterfiel; sister, Oretha Luttrell Bond; and by his grandson, Wayne Saterfiel. Survivors include his daughter, Amanda Mitchell and husband, Jason; sons, Dewayne Saterfiel and wife, Annette, and Charles Saterfiel and wife, Donna; brothers, Doyle Saterfiel and Truman Saterfiel; grandchildren, Hampton Mitchell, Hallie Mitchell, Logan Saterfiel, Carter Saterfiel, Shane Saterfiel, Nicole Becton and Dylan Saterfiel; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Tolbird, Scott Saterfiel, Jay Wiley, Odie Gregory, Jerry Smith, and Gary Saterfiel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Elvin Caples, and Harvey Arrant. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and also to Dr. Ronald Hubbard for their amazing love and care.
