SAXON Memorial services for Mr. Jerry K. "Red" Saxon of Calhoun, La will be 1:00pm Sunday, July 12, 2015 at his family home place located at 451 J.T. Griggs Rd. in Calhoun with his brother-in-law, Bruce McGee officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Mr. Saxon was born July 22, 1936 in Calhoun, La and passed from this life on June 28, 2015 in West Monroe, La due to illness. He was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and a member of URIM 111 Masonic Lodge of Calhoun, La. He served in the Louisiana National Guard and was a jockey and racehorse owner at Louisana Downs. He spent 56 years barbering and telling stories. He loved spending time with his family and friends, riding horses, playdays, horse races and farming. He enjoyed hunting with Richard Norman and friends at Davis Island. He loved his girl babies, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a giving man to many and he will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.W. "Bum" Saxon and Jeanette Saxon and forever Glenda Rose Melton. Survivors include his son, Rig W. Saxon, two granddaughters, Samantha & Robert Harris and Kaylee "KK" & Jordan Patrick; brothers, James & Jackie Saxon and Tommy & Rita Saxon; sister, Ann & Bruce McGee; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. Special thanks to Angie Miller, Jerry's niece, for being his sidekick and for helping take care of all his needs. We deeply appreciate you and your special care and love you gave him.
