Born on November 23rd, 1952, and raised in Spearsville, LA by her late parents, Arnold and Mildred Thomas. She was the Valedictorian of the 1970 graduating class at Spearsville High School. She later completed nursing school with academic honors at Louisiana Tech University in 1982. She fulfilled her career at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston, LA as a Registered Nurse, where she touched many lives and fulfilled her passion as an Operating Room nurse. She later became O.R. Director while also being involved and holding leadership positions in the Association of Operating Room Nurses. While living in Mountain Home, Arkansas, she was employed with Baxter Regional Medical Center as an RN, while also committing many hours volunteering at the Christian Clinic. At the age of 21, she devoted her life to Christ and remained a faithful follower and a true testament to God's love. She was an active member of Cook Baptist Church, where she joyfully spent much of her time teaching Sunday school, sharing in committee responsibilities, and making life-long friendships. Janice fulfilled many roles during her life; among these, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. Above all, she was a woman of God, who exemplified kindness, love and compassion. Although she coped with physical challenges, she embraced life, loved endlessly, and remained faithful to God. Janice loved the Lord and her family with her whole heart. Married to Charles Scriber, Janice was a loyal wife and their marriage was a true witness of unfailing love and devotion for 43 years. Janice was the loving "Mama" to three daughters; Robin, wife of Jason Ebeyer; Stacy, wife of Nathan Scheer; and MaryBeth, wife of Jonathan Walsh. She was the proud "Grandma/Grammy" to seven beautiful children: Katy Ebeyer, Andrew Ebeyer, Conner Ebeyer, Madison Scheer, Micah Scheer, Jon Robert Scheer, and Auri Walsh. Janice cherished her sibling relationships with her sister, Evelyn, wife of Paul Beaird; brother, Benny and Brenda Thomas; and late brother Gerald and Joan Thomas. Janice is also survived by her large and loving extended Thomas and Scriber families who all loved her dearly. Janice was a heroic example of how to love and she will forever be remembered. Her legacy lives strong Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 14, 2014 at Cook Baptist Church, with former pastor Bro. Gil Arthur officiating, with the assistance of current pastor Bro. Mike Holloway. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston. Burial will take place at Pines Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Pallbearers are John Calloway, Jerry Cunningham, Robert Ellis, Bill Jimmerson, Richard Jones, Tommy Ledford, Tony Thomas, and Tim Whittington.
